RESOLUTIONS I GUESS

Truthfully, I used to find resolutions hilarious because people usually set large goals that they usually end up failing at it. The cycle looked futile and hilarious. My mind has clearly changed, the chaos that was 2020 had me craving for some sort of order and structure.

Anyway here is my attempt at this resolution thing, hopefully, I would see this at the end of the year and I would have ticked most if not all. So let’s go.

My new year’s resolutions

In 2021:

I want to read more. More books, more articles, more blog posts, more newsletters, just read more. I kinda dropped the ball last year by majorly reading (a few by my standard) articles and newsletters, I want to do better.

I want to save and invest more. I currently do a decent amount of saving and investment but as my mum says “the biggest room is the room for improvement”, so I want to do more.

Want to be more mindful of my spending. After seeing that I somehow landed in the top 3% of bolt riders even though I stopped using bolt in like October of last year, I decided to redefine what I should be spending my money on.

I want to earn more. In fact, preferably in dollars or euros, even yen is fine. I am tired of poverty dragging my shirt (lmao), I am ready for God to take me higher.

I want to censor myself less. Sure the goal is to live within the realm of common sense and not be someone that goes against the moral fabric of society but I want to be able to have discussions about what I really think. No more holding back.

I want to experience more love, more joy, more bonding. Better relationships; friendships, romantic relationships and family. Want to experience the best of life.

Want to go back to building my relationship with Jesus because honestly this suffered heavy blows in 2020.

Definitely want to write more. The goal is a post every week, have no idea how I am going to do this or if it is even possible, anyway I am going to at least try.

Wish me luck, hopefully I succed in a lot of these things.

Tell me in the comments.

Do you have resolutions?

What are your resolutions?

Wish you luck and I hope you succeed with your goals.

Goal setting is nice and one way to succeed with it is by making them what’s called SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely/time-based.

So don’t just say you want to save and invest more, do this instead:

#1. Make it specific by saying you want to save 30% of your monthly income or whatever percentage that works for you.
#2. Make it measurable by tracking your savings and investments with an app or even a notebook
#3. Make it attainable by saying you want to save N100k by December 2021 if you earn an income that makes that possible.
#4. Make it relevant by saving lol, saving is an important thing to do.
#5. And make it timely by creating weekly or monthly targets for your 12-month goals.

Good post and I should get to setting my own goals before the year is far gone 🙂.

P/S: What’s the meaning of your full name Ireoluwatomiwa Ekisola in English?

    Cheers.

Oh thank you for your recommendations, they look really, really helpful. Would definitely try and see how it turns out.
My name is Yoruba , Ireoluwatomiwa meaning goodness of God has come to me and Ekisola is Ijebu (still Yoruba, just an aspect of Yoruba) which translates to bravery bringing wealth. Not sure because my Ijebu isn’t great. Lmao. Thanks for the recommendations again.
